Tips for a photo that passes
  • Stand 1–2 m (3–6 ft) in front of a plain, light wall.
  • Light your face evenly — face a window; avoid shadows on the face or behind you.
  • Look straight at the camera with a neutral expression, mouth closed and eyes open.
  • Remove glasses, hats and headphones (religious head coverings are usually allowed).
  • Ask someone to take it from eye level about 1.2 m away — not an arm's-length selfie.
  • Use full camera quality. No filters, beauty mode or portrait blur.

How to make a Schengen visa photo at home

You don’t need a photo studio. Stand about 1.5 m (5 ft) from the camera in front of a plain wall, in soft, even daylight. Look straight ahead with a neutral expression and both eyes open. Upload the photo above — SnapPass AI measures your head, replaces the background with light grey, off-white or white, and crops it to exactly 35 × 45 mm (1.38 × 1.77 in) at 300 dpi.

    Print or submit online

For paper applications, download the 4×6 in print sheet and order a standard print at any photo lab — it costs a fraction of a studio photo. Need photos for another country too? Select it as well and both fit on one sheet.
